The best weekend ever!

Hello! My name is Launoa and I am a girl. I come from Tonga but I live in New Zealand. I like to go shopping with my mum and I am nine years old.

On Saturday, I got up and had breakfast before I went outside to play with my friends. My friends and I decided to describe each other using a song. I love my friend Chelsea because she has long hair and pretty eyes. She looks just like a star. She gives me a huge hug and says “Thank you” when I give her a praise.

I enjoyed it very much when we play together and I always have a great time.

The Historic Panmure Cottage!

The Panmure cottage was built in the 19th Century. It was relocated near our school as it used to be where McDonald is at the moment. There are many different collectibles in the cottage. For example, there is a very, very old typewriter, old sewing machine, vacuum cleaner, old bike, old dresses, and lots more of ancient stuff that they were able to preserve.

In the living room, there are rocking chairs and normal but uncomfortable chairs because they were not cushioned enough and there is an enormous family bible on the table. If you want to read in bed and you carry the huge bible you will fall on your stomach because it is really heavy. Also, there is bundles of dried lavender flowers tied on the walls to make the living room smell nice and fresh. You can also see the candelabras that hold the candles that they lit at night to give them light as there was no electricity during that time.

There is a master bedroom that only has a large bed and two old pairs of shoes. A little black purse is hanging on the door and an old little girl’s dress placed on the bed. You can also find a dressing table with drawers to put their clothes in and on top of the dressing table, there are hair brushes by the mirror. There are also framed photos of little girls by the master bed.

It is important that we keep and maintain the Panmure Cottage because of its history and it is the only one in Panmure and also because it has lots of interesting things inside that the future generation can see and learn from. And most importantly, for all of us to learn what life was really like in the 19th century.

Can you feel it beating?

Our heart needs to beat to keep us alive.

The  heart is a muscle in your body which begins working seven months before you are born. It never  stops, day and night until we die. The heart pumps the blood going around the body, non-stop. It’s made of a special muscle called cardiac muscle. Cardiac muscles our  involuntary because it works without you thinking about it.

It is very important  because it helps us to breathe and  keeps our blood going around our body. If you are born without a heart, you will be a stillborn. Our heart helps to pump the oxygen rich blood into our body.

It’s really important that you have a heart to keep you alive and safe. We are lucky that we have a heart to be alive and right exercising regularly.

Can you feel the wind?

Wind comes from the North towards the East. Wind is really important because it gives us oxygen to breathe and gives us fresh air. Sometimes, If the warm wind is mixed with cold wind, it could become a storm.

If there is no air we would not be able to breath. Wind is really wild. Wind is moving air. You feel it pushing against you. Wind is formed whenever heavy air pushes on lighter air. It can range from gentle breeze to a violent tornado.

It is really important that we have wind to help us circulate air around us so we can breathe.
